Owen inmate dies en route to hospital
SPENCER — A 76-year-old Owen County Jail inmate died en route to Bloomington Hospital Wednesday morning.
Inmate George W. Thomas complained he wasn't feeling well around 9 a.m. Wednesday, and emergency medical technicians were called to transport him to the hospital, said Owen County Sheriff Harley Melton.
Thomas, who had experienced medical problems in the past, died on the way to the hospital, he said.
The Indiana State Police are investigating the death, but foul play is not suspected, Melton said.
