Emergency Medical Services   Hello and welcome to the Owen Co EMS page! We are a small Advanced EMS provider located in southern Indiana. We take great pride in providing an outstanding level of service to the people of Owen County, pop. 24,000. First a bit of info about us: We are located in Spencer IN, approx. 20 mi. west of Bloomington, Indiana. Our district covers 644 miles of state and county roads, through often hilly and wooded areas. In addition there is one of the busiest state parks in the state located within our district as well as a major water recreational site in the northern part of the county. Additionally the major NE to SW corridor of trucking in IN passes through the district on SR 67. The Resources: We operate 3 Adv. transport units and one Extrication Unit as well as maintaining a training institute for our continuing education and the EMS in-service requirements of the local fire depts., with classes taught at the First Responder, EMT Basic, and Advanced EMT level. Included also is the Owen Co. Rescue team which is composed of 15 members, most of whom are firefighters as well as EMS certified.   Death of an Innocent    This is a very touching poem that was published in a local school paper!
